THE ‘50s-INSPIRED SET, RETOLD

This knitwear set’s reimagined approach takes notes from ‘50s-inspired details but evokes a modern feel with its contemporary cut and monochrome palette. The subtly cropped proportions, defined silhouette and exaggerated collar offer a fresh perspective, while the striking simplicity of black underpins its easy sophistication and spotlights the double-faced cotton blend.

STYLE WITH

COS knitwear sets lend themselves to effortless year-round styling. Reinforcing its transitional ease, the refined jacket acts as a cardigan and shirt, accompanied by trousers with a more streamlined slim leg for a modern take on workwear or event dressing. The styling’s studied confidence is complete with a timeless loafer and the signature Folio bag, both crafted from supple chrome-free leather for a polished finish.

CONTEMPORARY KNIT SET

The COS knitwear set has versatile appeal – easy and elevated in equal measure, defined by exceptional quality and craftsmanship. Lending itself to the practicalities of city life, the three pieces in this set come together as a cohesive look or work individually styled with wardrobe signatures. The skirt and cardigans celebrate the art of transitional dressing through a neutral palette, crafted from premium merino wool that has been specially washed for a supremely soft hand feel.

THE LONG-SLEEVED CARDIGAN

The cornerstone of the daily wardrobe, a refined cardigan acts as a versatile layer to considered staples. Ribbed hems, luxuriously soft merino wool and tonal buttons envelop the body in a soft shape while playing up its natural ease and comfort.

THE SHORT-SLEEVED CARDIGAN

Reinterpreting the pared-back knitwear from the ‘90s, the short-sleeved cardigan is a study in between-season dressing. The longer-line sleeve adds an unexpected element to the relaxed silhouette while the rich mole hue brings to life the softness of the merino wool.

STYLE WITH

Designed with minimalist dressing in mind, the warm neutral hue has an air of impeccably honed polish and comfort – offering a clean canvas for styling. Undeniably versatile, the long-sleeved cardigan acts as a dimensional layer or bold accessory uniquely buttoned at the top and styled as a scarf. The short-sleeved version can be worn as a shirt for a more tailored look, while the fitted skirt is kept intentionally simple save for its chunky ribbed hem. A classic leather Derby shoe complements the look’s cohesive nature.

WHY MERINO WOOL?

A cornerstone of COS knitwear, extra fine merino yarns are hand-selected by our design team for their exceptional softness, warmth and superior, featherweight feel. Merino wool has wavelike fibres that are long-lasting, ensuring every piece in the COS merino wool collection is a favourite season after season.

KNITWEAR CARE GUIDE

Everything in our women’s knitwear collection is crafted with longevity in mind. Here we share tips on how to make your pieces last as long as they were designed to.

HOW TO WASH KNITWEAR

Wool does not require washing after every wear as the fibres have a natural protective coating, making them resistant to dirt and dust. We suggest airing and ventilating instead until washing is necessary.

• When cleaning, either machine wash or hand wash. Machine wash according to care instructions on a low spin using a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softener, which coats the fibres and makes them less breathable. Remove excess water from heavier garments, without wringing.

• Always dry wool flat on a towel to absorb excess water and retain its shape.

HOW TO AVOID SHRINKING KNITWEAR

We recommend always air-drying knitwear to avoid shrinking the fibres.

HOW TO STORE KNITWEAR

Store knitwear folded in drawers with mothballs to ensure wearability season after season.

HOW TO STOP KNITWEAR BOBBLING

Stop knitwear bobbling by washing knitwear garments inside out on a gentle cycle with a low spin, or handwash. Avoid tumble driers and regularly use a pilling comb or fabric shaver to retain the fabric’s softness.

HOW TO WASH MERINO WOOL

Merino wool doesn’t require washing after every wear as the fibres are naturally antibacterial and odour resistant, so we suggest only washing as necessary.

• When cleaning, machine wash according to care instructions on a low spin using a mild detergent.

• Hang merino wool to air dry and reshape while damp.

• Use a pilling comb or fabric shaver to retain the fabric’s softness.

DOES MERINO WOOL SHRINK?

The COS design team hand-selects extra fine merino yarns for their exceptional softness, reduced pilling and long-lasting wavelike fibres that help pieces to maintain their shape. However, the heat from tumble dryers can cause the garment to shrink, so we suggest air drying after washing. If a merino wool piece does shrink, help restore the shape by soaking it in warm water with conditioner, air drying and then repeating the process.
