COS SUSTAINABILITY MISSION

OUR COMMITMENT

Since the beginning, our design ethos has put lasting style and quality first. We believe that our choices, our wardrobes and our lives can do more with less.

We are committed to sourcing quality materials that have less impact on the environment. But it’s not just the fabrics that make a product sustainable, it’s working to ensure that the processes we use are kind to the planet too. We also focus on our ethical standards, and our commitment towards the many people and communities who make our products.

PEOPLE

We have over 220 colleagues promoting sustainability around the world. This includes working closely with our third-party supply chain to improve local wages, encourage better waste management, help make the switch to renewable energy and much more.

Our goal is to drive equality and opportunity for all. We want to create a workplace where human rights are respected and promoted — throughout.

CLIMATE

The H&M Group aims to be climate neutral by 2030 and climate positive by 2040. Being climate positive is one step beyond climate neutral. It means removing more greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere than our business creates.

ENERGY

Currently, 90% of the energy in our own operations is renewable. Our ambition is to reach 100% by 2025.

CIRCULARITY

Circularity means maximising our resources to minimise our waste. Whether it’s in our products, packaging or store design, we can reduce our impact on the planet by designing for longevity and using energy and materials that are renewable, reusable and recyclable. We are constantly exploring how we can apply circularity to every choice we make.

PRODUCT

86% of the materials in our collection are sustainably sourced, including our entire cotton collection. We're on our way to reaching 100% by 2025.

NON-COMMERCIAL GOODS

When it comes to sustainability, the non-commercial goods we design and produce are just as considered as the garments in our collections.

We aim to achieve 100% recycled, reusable or compostable packaging by 2025, while reducing the volume of materials used as much as possible. By 2030, 100% of new and existing products in our store concepts will be reused, repaired and/or recycled.
