General Terms and Conditions on the COS Site
The COS website is intended to facilitate the creation and exchange of scholarly and scientific information, and contributions and usage of data by individuals and organizations are encouraged for this purpose. Please see the descriptions of permitted uses within each product for terms and conditions pursuant to databases which COS licenses from the U.S. government or from other sources. Detailed information on legal terms and conditions are contained within the contracts or agreements for subscription and use of COS services.
Trademark Licenses
COS Trademarks are currently registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (“PTO”) for “Community of Science,” and “Community of Scholars” and equivalent organizations internationally. From time to time, other COS Trademarks may be registered with the PTO or equivalent international organizations.
Through its membership agreements, COS shall have a non-exclusive license to use the trademarks and logos (and any associated text) of member institutions in connection with the representation of member information in COS Expertise, as well as in marketing or informational material published by COS. In connection with all such uses, COS shall comply with the reasonable placement, color, design and notification requirements of the member institution.
